Explore as a Community of Learners. Build positive habitats within your home or homeschool group using learner-centered hands-on projects as part of our STEAM relevant design.
The Akitsu Learning Process works incrementally enabling each student to access their prior knowledge and cultivate skills that lead to a deeper understanding of challenging material. They gain confidence in asking questions, constructing knowledge for themselves and ultimately connecting their understanding with purpose. In this way, students gain positive self-esteem and self-actualization. Education, then, is intrapersonal (mind and actions) and interpersonal (collaborative). Each student finds enduring value in what they learn by using acquired skills available to them and around them every day.

Student Behavior
Abraham Maslow’s Theory of Self-Actualization (1954) there are three types of needs for all children (and the children within adults):
Communication, Acceptance and Freedom to grow.
Stillness and Boredom are two different energies.
Boredom is unconscious anxiety. Stillness is a choice.
Identify the two extremes to find the boundaries:
- No need to match another person’s energy level
- No need to disconnect from the situation
- The areas between these two spaces are the boundaries
- Find your own space
- Recognize your own level of energy
- Attention without Tension
- Nurture your own territory and be present in it
